Tamil Nadu Police have initiated legal action against Prakash, a candidate from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), over allegations of sexual harassment. The case, registered in the Poonamallee Assembly constituency, involves multiple sections, including Section 6, with investigations underway in the Tiruvallur district. Prakash, who also serves as the party’s Tiruvallur South district secretary, faces accusations from a female party executive regarding an incident at a wedding reception six months ago.
The complainant, a woman who is a party executive, accused Prakash of sexual harassment during a wedding reception in Tiruvallur. Despite raising the issue within the party leadership at the time, no action was reportedly taken. The woman, accompanied by her husband, lodged a formal complaint with the Tiruvallur District Superintendent of Police, leading to the registration of a case and preliminary inquiries by the Tiruvallur town police.
The ongoing investigation includes questioning the complainant, with further inquiries in progress. Police officials have assured that appropriate legal measures will be taken based on the probe’s outcome. In response to the allegations, Prakash’s family has denied the accusations, with his wife filing a counter-complaint alleging the charges are false and driven by ulterior motives.
The situation has escalated as Prakash was recently named as the TVK’s candidate for the Poonamallee constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections. The case is expected to attract significant political attention as the investigation unfolds.
