Teenager Parth Rakesh Mane secured the seventh position in the 10m air rifle men’s final at the Olympic Shooting range in Munich. Mane, hailing from Maharashtra, set a new junior national record during the qualification round with a score of 633.6, placing him third among 149 participants. The gold medals were claimed by Korea and China on the competition’s first day.
In the final, Mane started strongly with a score of 10.8 and maintained his performance in the first five-shot series. However, he slipped to eighth place after the second series. Mane’s journey ended after the 14th shot in his first senior international final, finishing with a score of 145.8. Korean Shin Minki secured the silver, while Victor Lindgren of Sweden took the bronze.
Apart from Mane, Shahu Tushar Mane and Arjun Babuta from India finished 25th and 63rd in the qualification round, respectively. The tournament also witnessed Korea’s Hong Suhyeon clinching the men’s 10m air pistol gold, with Indian shooter Samrat Rana narrowly missing the top eight.
In the women’s 25m pistol event, India’s Esha Singh performed well in the precision stage, securing sixth place with a score of 293. Meanwhile, Indian shooters excelled in the RPO (Ranking Points Only) category, with Himanshu Dhillon setting a new national record in the men’s 10m air rifle qualifications.
