The Telangana Assembly Speaker has directed the Ethics Committee to investigate the alleged misconduct of BRS MLA P. Kaushik Reddy in the House. The resolution to probe Reddy’s behavior towards senior member Kadiyam Srihari was passed by a voice vote after being proposed by the legislative affairs minister.
Members of the ruling Congress party accused Kaushik Reddy of disrespecting Srihari, a Dalit leader, citing inappropriate remarks and body language. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy criticized Reddy’s actions and recommended that the matter be handled by the Ethics Committee for appropriate action.
Kadiyam Srihari, a former Deputy Chief Minister and one of the 10 BRS MLAs who allegedly switched to the Congress Party in 2024, was at the center of the controversy. Despite BRS petitions for disqualification being dismissed by the Speaker, tensions escalated in the Assembly over the incident.
The Chief Minister condemned the absence of BRS leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the Assembly, suggesting a reluctance to face a Dalit Speaker. Allegations of continuous disruptions by BRS members and betrayal of the Dalit community were also raised, intensifying the political turmoil in Telangana.
