Telangana BJP leaders have criticized the Congress government in the state for failing to procure food grains from farmers. Led by state president N. Ramchander Rao, the party launched a three-day program called ‘Rythu Gosa – BJP Bharosa’ to address farmers’ distress and provide reassurance. During visits to procurement centers in Vikarabad and Medak, the leaders interacted with farmers and highlighted the challenges faced by the agricultural sector.
The BJP leaders alleged that the state government has consistently let down the Telangana farming community, leading to a severe crisis in the agricultural sector. They expressed concerns over farmers having to wait in long queues for weeks at procurement centers to sell their produce due to negligence and lack of planning by the Congress government. Ramchander Rao emphasized the chaotic situation in the procurement process for paddy and maize across Telangana.
Stressing solidarity with farmers, the BJP delegation, including MLAs, MLCs, and MPs, visited procurement centers to understand the hardships faced by farmers firsthand. They raised issues such as delays in procurement, lack of infrastructure, and the accumulation of harvested grain at centers. Despite warnings to the State Chief Secretary about potential losses to farmers, the Congress government allegedly failed to take timely action to address the situation.
The BJP leaders witnessed the challenges faced by farmers, including shortages of essential supplies like tarpaulins, gunny bags, and transportation facilities at procurement centers. They questioned the sudden action taken by the government upon learning about their visit and highlighted the urgency in resolving the procurement issues efficiently. The delegation, which included BJP floor leader Alleti Maheswar Reddy and MPs Eatala Rajender, Raghunandan Rao, and K. Vishweshwar Reddy, aimed to address the systematic failures in the procurement process.
