Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has outlined the Congress’ strategy to protect vulnerable voters like Dalits, minorities, tribal, and migrant workers during the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Telangana. Expressing concerns at a Political Affairs Committee meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted potential issues for Lambada, Adivasi, and migrant worker communities due to migration affecting voter lists. He urged the appointment of SIR in-charges for all constituencies to prevent any voter deletions.
Revanth Reddy emphasized the crucial role of the appointed in-charges in ensuring no votes are lost during the revision process. He noted a positive shift in understanding among Congress leaders and workers regarding the challenges posed by the SIR. The Chief Minister stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to address problems that may arise and called for input from former Pradesh Congress Committee Presidents to navigate the issue effectively.
To mitigate risks of voter loss, the Chief Minister directed the organization of SIR meetings on an Assembly constituency basis, particularly in Hyderabad. He assigned specific responsibilities to Rajya Sabha members and Members of Legislative Council within the region. Emphasizing coordination, he urged all Congress leaders to work together and encouraged the Mahila Congress to conduct cluster-wise SIR meetings for effective engagement.
Revanth Reddy further instructed the Ministers In-Charge to dedicate regular time to party-related activities, including field visits and interactions with party workers. He committed to meeting Congress functionaries at the village level periodically to strengthen grassroots engagement, allocating dedicated time each month for party-related engagements.
