Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed the police to take decisive measures against those accountable for the demise of excise constable Gajula Soumya. Soumya, aged 25, passed away due to injuries sustained in an alleged assault by ‘Ganja’ smugglers in Nizamabad district.
Expressing sorrow over Soumya’s death, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences as she breathed her last at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad. He emphasized the importance of holding the perpetrators responsible for her tragic fate.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister pledged full support to Soumya’s family during this challenging period. NIMS, in a statement, detailed the medical efforts made to save Soumya’s life but unfortunately, she could not be revived despite all attempts.
Soumya’s critical condition arose from being hit by a car linked to a ‘Ganja’ smuggling group during a vehicle inspection in Nizamabad. The excise team’s intervention led to the seizure of 2.5 kg of ganja from the suspects, with two arrests made and a search ongoing for the others involved.
