Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy revealed plans to implement a special system to tackle food adulteration. He emphasized the need for stringent measures, similar to existing models like EAGLE and HYDRAA, used to combat drug issues and lake encroachments. Reddy criticized BJP MP K. Laxman for unwarranted comments on delimitation and suggested that Laxman resign.
The Chief Minister expressed concerns about the impact of delimitation on South India and urged for a comprehensive discussion on the matter. He highlighted the disparity faced by South India despite its commendable family planning efforts. Reddy commemorated the one-year anniversary of the fine rice distribution scheme by organizing a meal for state legislators using fine rice.
Reddy explained that the scheme aimed to prevent the conversion of coarse rice into fine rice by introducing rice that people actually consume. The government incentivized farmers with a ₹500 bonus per quintal to cultivate fine paddy. Additionally, ration cards were issued to eligible beneficiaries to ensure access to quality education and nutritious food for students.
The Chief Minister announced plans to promote crop diversification and encourage farmers to transition to commercial and alternative crops. He also disclosed intentions to conduct cancer screenings across the state. Reddy differentiated his administration’s actions from the unfulfilled promises of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, emphasizing their commitment to delivering on pledges.
Reddy hinted at concerns regarding the freedom of KCR, suggesting he might be under ‘house arrest’. He affirmed the continuation of the scheme providing subsidised LPG cylinders for eligible women beneficiaries without alterations.
