Telangana’s Director General of Police, C.V. Anand, recently assessed the state’s Maoist situation and the efforts of the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in combating extremism. During his visit to the SIB, he praised the bureau for its role in countering Left-Wing Extremism and overseeing the surrender of over 800 underground Maoist cadres between 2024 and 2026.
Anand highlighted the surrender of significant Maoist members, including Central Committee Members and the recovery of numerous firearms. He commended the SIB for its intelligence-based operations that have helped neutralize the Maoist movement in the state and encouraged surrendered cadres to reintegrate into society.
The DGP emphasized the importance of ongoing rehabilitation efforts for surrendered Maoists and urged the SIB to monitor and support their reintegration into society. He also advised the bureau to adapt to changing security challenges, including monitoring social media and addressing emerging threats effectively.
