The Telangana government has initiated the Indiramma Indlu scheme to build houses for the underprivileged in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area. Low-income group housing towers will be constructed within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, D. Sridhar Babu, and Mohammed Azharuddin unveiled the scheme at the State Secretariat.
Under this scheme, the Telangana Housing Board will construct towers for homeless individuals from weaker sections on government lands. Initially, 7,680 flats will be built, with plans to scale up to one lakh houses. Eligible families with an annual income of up to Rs 6 lakh and residing in Hyderabad for the past decade can apply. The government will provide land and a Rs 5 lakh subsidy per housing unit.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar emphasized that houses will be constructed even in areas with high land prices. Minister D. Sridhar Babu highlighted the government’s aim to eliminate huts in Telangana and ensure affordable housing. The government envisions Hyderabad as a global city under the CURE Vision, aiming for inclusive development and economic growth.
