Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged protests statewide, urging the immediate removal of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar. This demand follows the arrest of his son, Bandi Bhageerath, in a POCSO case involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl. BRS leaders and legislators led demonstrations in various constituencies, advocating for justice for the victim.
Protests led by BRS members in Huzurabad constituency, under MLA P. Kaushik Reddy’s guidance, included placard displays and slogan chanting for the minister’s dismissal. In Vemulawada, Chalmeda Lakshmi Narasimha Rao spearheaded a protest demanding justice for the minor victim. Demonstrators in different locations called for Bandi Sanjay’s resignation and, if not, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action.
Former MLA Sunke Ravishankar led a significant protest in Gangadhara, Karimnagar district, demanding Bandi Sanjay’s immediate dismissal. Tensions rose in Sircilla town’s Netanna Chowrasta when BJP workers attempted to disrupt a peaceful BRS protest. Police intervened with a mild lathi-charge to maintain order and detained the disruptors.
Women leaders of BRS visited Bhagya Lakshmi temple in Charminar, Hyderabad, praying for wisdom for Bandi Sanjay and his son. BRS Working President, K.T. Rama Rao, emphasized the need for Bandi Sanjay’s removal to ensure a fair investigation in his son’s POCSO case. Rao criticized the delay in the accused’s arrest, questioning the protection he received during that time.
