Telangana’s Director General of Police has instructed officials to compile detailed information on domestic workers from Nepal and other countries in the state. Recent incidents involving Nepalese domestic helpers have prompted this action to maintain a structured database for better monitoring and security. Notably, a Nepalese domestic worker was involved in a high-profile crime in Hyderabad last month.

The Director General of Police has reinstated the “Staff Officers Meeting” to enhance coordination among senior officers and Heads of Departments. This move aims to address the visible coordination gap within the department. Discussions during the meeting covered various topics such as the maintenance of databases for foreign domestic workers, technological advancements in policing, and the reorganization of police jurisdictions.

During the meeting, the Director General of Police emphasized the importance of technology in modern policing and discussed the adoption of AI, drones, and data intelligence systems. Senior officers and Commissioners reviewed matters related to the reorganization of police jurisdictions, strengthening of the police system, and future policing initiatives. The meeting also touched upon plans for organizing the Police Retreat and Women Police Conference in the coming months.

To promote gender parity and improve working conditions for women police personnel, the Director General of Police has stressed the effective implementation of a 33% reservation for women officers. He has directed officers to create more opportunities for women in law enforcement roles. The meeting also highlighted the significance of technology-based policing systems in enhancing policing efficiency and access to critical information.

Discussions at the meeting also focused on manpower management, vehicle audits, personnel utilization, and traffic management systems. The need for establishing specialized mechanisms for traffic management, road safety, and food adulteration control was deliberated. The Director General of Police urged officers to embrace technology-driven policing and emphasized the importance of utilizing available technological resources effectively.
