School students in Telangana will participate in a collective pledge to refrain from using tobacco, alcohol, and narcotics. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to invite him to the event scheduled for June 12, coinciding with the reopening of schools. The government aims to encourage students to be responsible citizens by staying away from harmful substances.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla had suggested that students should take an anti-drug pledge, leading to the organization of a large student gathering for this purpose. Additionally, students will receive kits containing essential supplies like uniforms, textbooks, and school bags. The state government plans to ensure constant vigilance in schools and colleges to prevent substance abuse among students.
The mass pledge ceremony is a joint effort by the Department of School Education, the Police Department, and the anti-drugs force EAGLE. It underscores the shared responsibility of students, teachers, parents, and management in maintaining safe and drug-free educational environments. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also highlighted initiatives to strengthen the education sector, including increasing the education budget annually and enhancing government school facilities.
