Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar revealed plans to merge the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) with the government post the recognized trade union elections. The minister assured that the merger process would be conducted after discussions with elected representatives to prevent disputes and obstacles. He emphasized addressing all concerns of RTC employees and encouraged them to dismiss any doubts.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, along with Ministers for IT, Industries, and Legislative Affairs, inspected the proposed bus depot site in Peddapalli district. He disclosed that efforts were underway to hasten the construction of the RTC bus depot for an imminent inauguration. The Chief Minister’s approval for the depot came following requests from government officials, aiming to expedite the process despite initial delays.
Steps have been initiated to enhance bus connectivity in rural areas, responding to increased demand for RTC services, especially after the introduction of free bus travel for women. The minister highlighted ongoing efforts to procure new RTC buses to meet public needs and strengthen the public transport system further.
