Tension arose at Dumra police station in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district following the death of a young man who was reportedly assaulted in Mumbai. Villagers and family members gathered at the station, seeking action against those they believe are responsible. The deceased, identified as Sudhir Kumar, had traveled to Mumbai for work in April with some acquaintances.
Relatives allege that a dispute over a mobile phone led to Sudhir being confined and physically assaulted for days. When his condition worsened, he was put on a train back to Bihar. Sudhir was found unconscious on the train, prompting his family to arrange medical care. Despite efforts, he slipped into a coma and eventually passed away.
Family members suspect foul play by individuals known to Sudhir but these claims are yet to be verified independently. Villagers and relatives gathered at the police station, demanding justice for the alleged assault. Police assured them of a thorough investigation and legal action once a formal complaint is lodged.
Station House Officer Mukesh Kumar mentioned that no written complaint was filed during the protest. The police are aware that the incident occurred in Mumbai and will act in accordance with legal procedures upon receiving a formal complaint. The family and villagers, after receiving assurances, returned to their village for the deceased’s final rites.
