Thousands of people took part in the ‘Save Sindh’s Existence and Resources March’ in Larkana, Pakistan, despite Section 144 restrictions and alleged fake FIRs. The protest, led by Awami Tehreek and Sindhyani Tehreek, aimed to oppose the 27th Constitutional Amendment, corporate farming projects, new canal developments on the Indus River, resource theft in Sindh, and the rise of bandit rule, as reported by The Express Tribune.
During the event, Awami Tehreek Central President Advocate Vasand Thari criticized the parliament’s reduced role, claiming that crucial national decisions were being made outside Pakistan. He denounced the 26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments, corporate farming initiatives, and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as unconstitutional and harmful to Sindh. Thari called for a judicial investigation into the arming of bandits and action against their alleged supporters.
Earlier this month, JSMM chairman Shafi Burfat urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address Pakistan’s “extremist-controlled nuclear arsenal” on the global stage, highlighting state-sponsored terrorism and radicalization in Islamabad. Burfat emphasized the existential threat faced by Sindh under Pakistan’s militarized and extremist-influenced state structure, warning of the country’s destabilizing impact on the region and beyond.
Expressing apprehension, Burfat raised concerns about Pakistan’s military elite’s influence on nuclear weapons, cautioning that extremism has infiltrated the highest echelons of the country’s military.
