Over 2,000 Afghan refugees were sent back from Iran and Pakistan in a single day, as confirmed by a Taliban official. The repatriation involved 668 families, totaling 2,553 individuals, returning to Afghanistan through various border crossings.
Among the returnees, 694 families, comprising 4,310 people, were escorted to their hometowns, while 531 families received humanitarian aid. Additionally, telecommunication companies issued 747 SIM cards to assist the returning refugees.
In a separate incident, 2,370 Afghan migrants were deported from Iran and Pakistan the day before. Concerns have been raised by some returnees about the lack of shelter, winter assistance, and challenges in obtaining necessary documents like electronic ID cards.
The returning refugees expressed struggles in meeting their basic needs and urged the authorities to address their situation promptly. They highlighted the inadequate aid available and the widespread homelessness among the returnees.
