Three individuals were caught attempting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The Army detained them as they were making the crossing in Kashmir. These individuals, all from the Sopore area of Baramulla district, were trying to move into PoK from the Hathlanga-Nambla axis during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
The three arrested individuals have been identified as Adil Hussain Dar, Ishfaq Ahmad, and Jaffar Ahmad, all residents of Sopore. Dar, one of the trio, is a suspended TA (Territorial Army)-161 personnel, according to officials. Sources mentioned that the group was in contact with handlers based in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Currently, all three are in custody and are undergoing interrogation by security agencies.
In a separate incident, an individual from PoK was apprehended by an Army unit after crossing the LoC into Kashmir in the Silikote area of the Uri sector. The detained person, Zeeshan Mir from Muzaffarabad, stated that he had crossed the LoC to meet his girlfriend residing in Tileai in the sector. Both Mir and the girl are being interrogated by security forces, with further details pending.
Jammu and Kashmir features a 740-km-long LoC located in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts of the Valley, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri, and partially in Jammu district of Jammu division. The Army is responsible for securing the LoC in J&K against activities like infiltration, exfiltration, drug smuggling, and drone operations originating from across the border. To counter the threat of drones, the Army employs advanced anti-drone technology.
