Three juveniles fled from the Silam Juvenile Observation Home in Gumla, Jharkhand, by scaling the boundary wall. Two of them are from Lohardaga district, and the third is from the Ghaghra police station area in Gumla. The escape, involving two juveniles facing serious criminal charges and one detained for theft, has raised concerns about the facility’s security measures.
Authorities raised an alert after the escape, leading to a search operation in Gumla and nearby districts. Police are working closely with the families of the absconding juveniles to locate them swiftly. The incident has reignited scrutiny over the observation home’s security infrastructure, which has faced similar escape cases in the past.
The fleeing juveniles are suspected to have sustained injuries during their escape over the high boundary wall. Despite previous escape incidents prompting promises to enhance security, gaps in monitoring and security management persist.
