Three individuals, including two children, lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Bharatipura Cross near Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, Karnataka. The deceased were identified as 15-year-old Rihaan, nine-year-old Rahil, and 76-year-old Fathima, all residents of Shringeri in Chikkamagaluru district.
The accident occurred due to a head-on collision between a car and a Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus, with all the victims being occupants of the car. Three other individuals in the car suffered severe injuries and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations reveal that six people were in the car, returning home after attending a marriage ceremony in Channagiri, Davanagere district. The RTC bus, en route from Mangaluru to Raichur, also sustained damage in the collision, causing traffic disruption for a period.
The Thirthahalli Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, with more details expected to emerge as the case unfolds. Similar tragic accidents have been reported in different districts of Karnataka recently, highlighting the importance of road safety measures.
