At least three individuals lost their lives in two distinct road accidents in Jharkhand on Monday. The incidents resulted in significant traffic disruptions, with one causing prolonged traffic jams in Palamu district.
The initial mishap occurred in the Hussainabad police station area of Palamu district on Monday morning. A school bus collided head-on with a motorcycle near Gamharia village on the Japla-Chhatarpur main road, resulting in the immediate death of the motorcycle rider, identified as Dharmendra Yadav (26), son of Yamuna Yadav from Chapardag (Sikni) village. Dharmendra, who was wearing a helmet, was fatally injured despite the protective gear. He was rushed to Hussainabad Sub-Divisional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In response to the accident, enraged villagers blocked the Japla-Chhatarpur road near Gamharia for several hours, demanding action against the bus driver. This blockade led to significant traffic congestion on the route until the intervention of Hussainabad police station in charge, Sonu Chaudhary, who convinced the protesters to lift the blockade.
The second fatal accident occurred later in the day in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. A Swift Dzire car collided head-on with a truck near Bada Thalko village on the Seraikela-Chaibasa road. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was traveling from Chaibasa while the car was en route to Seraikela when the collision happened.
The collision resulted in the immediate death of the car driver, while another passenger succumbed to injuries on the way to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital. A third occupant sustained critical injuries, receiving initial treatment at Sadar Hospital before being referred to MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur for further medical attention.
