Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Bihar’s Kishanganj district. The incident occurred when a truck and a dumper collided head-on on National Highway-327E under the Thakurganj police station area, resulting in both vehicles catching fire.

The collision was so intense that flames quickly engulfed the vehicles, causing panic and chaos among eyewitnesses. Traffic on the highway was brought to a halt for a period due to the ensuing blaze. Emergency response teams from the Thakurganj police station and the fire department promptly arrived at the scene upon notification.

Efforts to control the fire were successful after significant intervention by firefighters. Unfortunately, by the time the fire was extinguished, three individuals, including two drivers and a helper, had succumbed to the flames while trapped inside the burning vehicles. The bodies have been taken into police custody and sent to Sadar Hospital, Kishanganj, for post-mortem examination.

One of the deceased has been identified as Dharmendra Kumar, a resident of Motihari district, while the identities of the dumper driver and helper remain unknown. Authorities are working to identify them and notify their families. Additionally, Sahil Alam, the truck helper from Motihari, sustained injuries in the accident and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Initial investigations suggest that overspeeding and negligence might have been contributing factors to the accident. SDPO-2 Manglesh Kumar Singh confirmed the details, stating that the truck, loaded with rice, was en route from Motihari to Guwahati, while the dumper, carrying boulders, was traveling from Siliguri via Thakurganj towards Pauakhali, resulting in a head-on collision and subsequent fire.

A comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched by the police. Both vehicles involved in the accident have been cleared from the road, and normal traffic flow has been restored. The deceased individuals have been recovered, and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
