Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic road accident in West Bengal’s Alipurduar district, caused by dense fog. The incident involved a collision between a small car and a 12-wheeler trailer, resulting in the trailer veering off the road. The small car, en route to Siliguri, collided head-on with the trailer traveling in the opposite direction.
Locals reported that the accident occurred in the Garam Basati area of National Highway 31 in Alipurduar following a failed overtaking attempt. The impact of the collision left the car severely damaged, leading to the immediate death of the car’s driver, Monojit Biswas, a resident of the Sankosh tea garden area in Alipurduar.
The two other victims were identified as Souvik Biswas, Monojit’s cousin from the same tea garden, and Raju Mandal, a car mechanic residing in Alipurduar. The region has been experiencing heavy fog recently, severely limiting visibility on the roads and contributing to the fatal accident. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly on National Highways, during such weather conditions.
