Three individuals from a notorious Punjab gang were apprehended in the Howrah station area for their involvement in the murder of a kabaddi player in Punjab on December 15. The arrested suspects, identified as Karan Pathak, Tarandeep Singh, and Akashdeep Singh, are known for their organized crime activities in Punjab.
The Punjab Police Special Task Force had been searching for these individuals since the kabaddi player’s murder. The suspects, who had been on the run, attempted to hide in Kolkata after traveling via Gangtok but were planning to flee the city by boarding a train from Howrah station.
Acting on a tip-off, the Howrah City Police, in coordination with the Punjab STF, successfully apprehended the suspects at the station. Initially claiming affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the arrested individuals later admitted to misleading the authorities and revealed their actual association with a rival group.
A social media post had previously claimed responsibility for the kabaddi player’s killing, linking it to the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala. The victim, identified as Rana Balachauria, was fatally shot during a kabaddi tournament in Mohali. The incident was purportedly an act of revenge, as stated in the Instagram post.
