Bhojpur Police in Bihar swiftly apprehended three young individuals within a day in relation to the killing of a 16-year-old high school student. The victim’s body was discovered in a water-filled pit. During a press briefing, the Station House Officer of Nawada Police Station disclosed that initial investigations indicated the incident stemmed from a love triangle and personal animosity.
The arrested suspects have been named as Badal Kumar (19), Adarsh Kumar (19), and Anish Kumar (19). The deceased, identified as Sunny Kumar Singh (16), was the son of Upendra Kumar Singh from Ekawana village, Ward-9, under the Barhara police station area. Sunny was found murdered with multiple injuries in a water-filled pit near Piparhiya bridge in the Muffasil police station area on the city’s outskirts.
Authorities recovered the victim’s body and transferred it to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Investigations unveiled that Sunny’s cousin was romantically involved with a young lady who also had ties with Badal Kumar. Upon learning of this on social media, Sunny objected and confronted the woman, leading to discord. Allegedly, the woman instigated Badal to commit the murder.
According to the victim’s family, Sunny left for coaching classes around 10 AM on Friday. Upon his return, he contacted his elder brother Mandeep, claiming to have been abducted by individuals on a motorcycle. Subsequently, his phone was turned off. Following his failure to come home, the family initiated a search and later filed a report at the Nawada police station, alleging Badal’s involvement in Sunny’s abduction.
Badal Kumar was apprehended by the police on Friday night. After confessing to the crime during interrogation, the authorities recovered Sunny’s body from the pit. Further inquiries led to the arrest of Adarsh and Anish, who were implicated in the abduction and murder. These two individuals were detained on Saturday. Police officials have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests in the case.
