Tight security measures are in place in Chennai as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in the city on Friday evening for a two-day campaign tour covering Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. Approximately 3,000 police personnel have been stationed at key locations to ensure security during the Prime Minister’s visit. Surveillance has been heightened, with restrictions on drone operations in sensitive areas like Guindy and Meenambakkam.
Senior police officials are supervising arrangements to manage traffic, crowd control, and security at various venues connected to the visit. The Prime Minister will land in Chennai via a special aircraft and then proceed by helicopter to Puducherry for a major roadshow supporting National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates.
The roadshow is expected to pass through significant locations such as Ajanta Signal Junction, Anna Salai, and Anna Thidal, with large crowds anticipated along the route. This event aims to boost party morale and solidify voter backing in Puducherry ahead of the Assembly elections. Following activities in Puducherry, PM Modi will return to Chennai and stay overnight at a star hotel in Guindy, where he will hold strategic meetings with senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
Discussions during these meetings will focus on assessing campaign progress and finalizing decisions, including the announcement of remaining BJP candidates in Tamil Nadu. These deliberations are crucial in shaping the NDA’s electoral strategy in the state for the final campaign phase. On the following day, the Prime Minister will head to Kerala to continue campaigning, addressing public gatherings and engaging with party workers as the NDA seeks to broaden its presence in the region.
The political community is closely monitoring this visit, with party officials optimistic that PM Modi’s presence will significantly benefit the NDA’s chances in the southern states.
