Top hockey academies like Raja Karan, Tamil Nadu, Ritu Rani, and Madhya Pradesh showcased strong performances in the opening matches of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women Academy Championship 2026 in Gwalior. Raja Karan Hockey Academy secured a 2-0 victory over Khalsa Hockey Academy in Pool A, with Captain Rakhi scoring two goals. Tamil Nadu Hockey Academy dominated with an 8-0 win against Hockey Family Badhkhalsa NCR Hockey Society, led by S Pooja’s hat-trick.
Ritu Rani Hockey Academy excelled in Pool B, defeating Vadipatti Raja Hockey Academy 13-0. Khushdeep Kaur scored four goals, while Heena netted a hat-trick. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy also delivered a strong performance, beating Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy Bhagta 12-0 in their Pool B match. The tournament, featuring 12 academy teams divided into two pools, will culminate on August 3, with the top teams competing for the championship title.
The competition format includes league matches where teams earn points for wins and draws. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the semi-finals on August 2, followed by the final matches. In case of tied classification matches, shoot-outs will determine the winners as per FIH Tournament Regulations.
