Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials will be in Jammu for a two-day visit to assess security in Jammu and Kashmir. The focus of the meeting is to evaluate the security status in the region, including recent attempts by Pakistan to infiltrate and drone activities along the Line of Control and the International Border.
The meeting, scheduled at the police headquarters in Jammu, will be attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, and other key officials. Discussions will also cover anti-terror operations in areas like Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, and Udhampur, with a particular emphasis on enhancing operational effectiveness to prevent terrorists from escaping during encounters.
Reports suggest that terrorists are positioned at launch pads on the Pakistan side, awaiting opportunities to cross over. To counter this threat, the Army and BSF are on high alert along the LoC and IB to thwart any infiltration attempts. The agenda will include a review of anti-infiltration measures and strengthening the Anti-Infiltration Grid.
The visit by the Union Home Secretary follows a recent security review by Home Minister Amit Shah on January 8. During the previous review, the Home Minister commended the efforts of J&K Police and security forces and emphasized the need for a focused approach to dismantle terror infrastructure in the region.
