A tragic incident unfolded in the Kumarbagh police station area of West Champaran district in Bihar, where three children lost their lives following a domestic dispute. The incident took place in Bhangaha village under the Kumarbagh police station limits. Lalita Devi, the victim, accused her husband, Rambabu Yadav, of harassment and assault over a prolonged period.
According to Lalita’s account, an argument ensued on Tuesday morning when she expressed her desire to visit her maternal home. Allegedly, Rambabu Yadav then took his wife and their three children to an isolated spot near the Sugauli branch of the Tirhut Canal, about 1.5 km away from their residence. Lalita claimed that she was pushed into the canal first but managed to save herself despite the deep water and strong current. She further alleged that the accused proceeded to throw the three children, including a six-year-old daughter, a four-year-old son, and a five-month-old infant girl, into the canal.
Upon receiving information about the tragedy, police teams from Kumarbagh and Chanpatia police stations arrived at the scene and initiated a search operation. After extensive rescue efforts, the bodies of all three children were retrieved from the canal and sent for post-mortem examination. A police official mentioned that the father, the accused, absconded after the incident, prompting ongoing search operations and raids to apprehend him.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities indicating that further legal actions will be based on the victim’s statement and evidence gathered during the inquiry. The deaths of the three children have left the local community in mourning and outrage, shedding light on the grave consequences of domestic violence and family disputes that escalate into tragic events. Police officials assured that a thorough examination of all aspects of the case is underway, and appropriate measures will be taken once the investigation concludes.
