A tragic incident occurred in Sangovar village, Bihar, where four people lost their lives due to a lightning strike, leaving two women critically injured. The victims sought shelter under a tree during a sudden rain spell when lightning struck directly, causing multiple casualties. The deceased individuals have been identified as Shambhu Kumar, Madan Rajvanshi, Bhuvneshwar Rajvanshi, and Sonu Kumar, while the injured women are Sunita Devi and Shobhi Devi.
The lightning strike took place as the weather turned stormy while people were working in the fields, prompting them to seek refuge under the tree. The incident led to the immediate deaths of four individuals and severe injuries to the two women. Following the tragedy, residents of Sangovar village rushed to the scene, and with their assistance, all six victims were taken to the Nardiganj Primary Health Centre for medical attention.
The district administration has confirmed the unfortunate event and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. Officials visited the affected village, examined the site, and met with the victims’ families. Financial aid and ex-gratia compensation will be provided to the families of the deceased as per disaster management protocols, with a commitment to offer necessary medical treatment to the injured women.
