Uday Krishna Reddy, a trainee IPS officer at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, reportedly attempted suicide following allegations of sexual harassment by a female trainee officer. In a handwritten suicide note, Reddy claimed a year-long relationship with the woman, accusing her, her husband, and two friends of driving him to suicide. He alleged that the woman initiated physical contact without consent and falsely accused him of assault.
Reddy, who consumed a poisonous substance, is now stable in a private hospital after being admitted from his relative’s house in Moti Nagar. The woman trainee officer had lodged a complaint accusing Reddy of harassment, including sending abusive messages, recording private videos, and blackmailing her. The police have registered a case against Reddy under various sections of the law based on her complaint.
Hailing from Ullapalem in Prakasam district, Reddy secured All India Rank 350 in the Civil Services Examination last year and joined the IPS after quitting the police force in 2018 to focus on civil services preparation.
