A tribal woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district died after her family had to transport her on a cot for almost two kilometers to reach a hospital. The absence of a motorable road prevented an ambulance from reaching their village, leading to the tragic incident.
The incident occurred in Nadna (Dihiya) Gram Panchayat under the Mangawan Assembly constituency. The woman, Ramkali Rawat, was struck by lightning, and villagers had to carry her through a muddy track on a traditional cot in an attempt to get medical help. Unfortunately, she passed away before reaching the hospital.
Residents have raised concerns about the incomplete road connecting the villages of Dihiya and Nadna. Despite repeated appeals to authorities over the past four years, the road remains unfinished, exacerbating the lack of emergency medical access in the area.
Mangawan MLA Narendra Prajapati mentioned allocating funds for the road project, but due to a shortage of funds, the construction remains incomplete. Villagers have submitted a memorandum alleging misappropriation of funds in the road construction, demanding accountability and action against those responsible.
