Rich tributes were offered to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 165th birth anniversary with significant events held in various countries across Asia and Europe. In Baku, the Embassy of India marked the occasion with students from the Azerbaijan University of Languages presenting Tagore’s poems, including selections from his renowned work Gitanjali. Indian Ambassador Designate to Azerbaijan, Abhay Kumar, expressed gratitude to the students for their involvement, emphasizing Tagore’s role in elevating Indian literature globally.
The Indian Embassy in Mexico and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) also commemorated the day with a floral tribute and cultural activities. In Berlin, Germany, the Embassy of India participated in celebrations at Tagore Gymnasium, highlighting Tagore’s enduring influence on literature, art, and international humanism. German students showcased musical and cultural performances, underscoring the universal appeal of Tagore’s works and the ability of culture to bridge boundaries.
The Embassy noted that Tagore Gymnasium in Berlin Marzahn actively promotes Tagore’s legacy by exposing students to his timeless ideas, music, and art. The school, with over 850 students from diverse backgrounds, fosters cultural ties between India and Germany through exchanges with Shantiniketan Academy in Kolkata.
