Trinamool Congress MP Saayoni Ghosh criticized the new BJP government in West Bengal, alleging the use of “fear psychosis” tactics that she believes will not be effective in the state. This reaction follows a complaint by Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee about being assaulted by some lawyers at the Calcutta High Court. Ghosh highlighted what she described as the BJP’s culture and expressed confidence in Banerjee’s future as Chief Minister.
Ghosh claimed that Banerjee was “heckled” outside the court and emphasized the need for proper evidence before taking legal action against anyone. She challenged the BJP, stating that their methods might work in other states but not in Bengal. The MP also commented on the BJP’s demolition activities targeting illegal constructions in the state, suggesting that the people of Bengal would decide the political future based on their preference for either development or peace.
Responding to queries about Banerjee’s legal practice permissions, Ghosh drew a comparison by questioning if the BJP had sought permission for alleged electoral malpractices. She affirmed Banerjee’s commitment to public welfare, indicating her readiness to go wherever necessary for the people’s benefit. Earlier, when Banerjee was leaving the court, she faced verbal abuse and accusations from a group of advocates, leading to a tense situation.
