Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee has urged the Chief Election Commissioner to release daily supplementary voter lists following the recent publication of the final voter list in West Bengal. The final list, issued on February 28, excluded 60 lakh cases pending judicial review, with the additional lists set to be released in line with a Supreme Court directive.
Banerjee emphasized the need for daily updates on the adjudication progress in his letter to the Election Commissioner. He expressed concerns regarding the transparency and procedural adherence in the preparation of electoral rolls for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections in the state. The lack of clarity on the inclusion of voters from the supplementary lists in the final roll was highlighted as a key issue.
In his communication, Banerjee pointed out the alleged non-compliance with Supreme Court orders mandating the daily publication of supplementary electoral rolls reflecting adjudication outcomes. He criticized the lack of public accessibility to decisions made by adjudicating authorities on voter claims and objections, stressing the importance of transparency in the electoral process.
Trinamool Congress, in a statement, reiterated the call for immediate corrective measures to ensure transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to judicial directives in the electoral procedures, pledging to uphold the democratic rights of the people of West Bengal.
