Amid the ongoing Trinamool Congress controversy, party MP Saugata Roy stated that 90% of workers stand by Mamata Banerjee. This follows a move by a faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee to remove Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee from the party.
Roy criticized the breakaway faction, highlighting a recent meeting at a Kolkata hotel as symbolic of their direction. He emphasized Mamata Banerjee’s pivotal role in building the party through significant struggles.
Addressing concerns over party symbol allocation, Roy mentioned that the Election Commission of India decides on this matter. He affirmed that the majority of Trinamool Congress workers remain loyal to Mamata Banerjee.
Roy also expressed doubts about the electoral prospects of the Ritabrata-led faction, dismissing their significance. He urged against labeling them as rebels and questioned their public relevance.
Regarding frozen bank accounts, Roy alleged misuse of party funds by dissenting members during elections. He suggested they might seek support from other political entities for financial backing.
