Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee sustained injuries while submitting a memorandum at Chanditala police station in West Bengal’s Hooghly district. He accused BJP workers of hurling a stone at him, resulting in a head injury. However, the BJP refuted the claim, stating that Banerjee faced backlash from people unhappy with his party’s actions.
On a previous occasion, Trinamool General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was also targeted and harassed during a visit to Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas district. The incidents highlight escalating tensions between the Trinamool and BJP in the region.
During the protest at the police station, Banerjee and Trinamool workers were met with hostility, including the display of a black flag and the chanting of slogans. Banerjee alleged that stones were thrown at him, emphasizing the need for vigilance among the people of Bengal against such acts of violence.
In response to the incident, Banerjee criticized the BJP leadership, accusing them of orchestrating attacks and undermining the safety of citizens. He urged the public to remain vigilant and raise their voices against the prevailing atmosphere of fear and intimidation in the state.
Abhishek Banerjee’s recent encounter with public anger, where he faced physical assault and verbal abuse, further underscores the volatile political climate in West Bengal. The Trinamool leadership continues to attribute such incidents to planned attacks by the BJP, fueling tensions between the rival parties.
