Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stressed the importance of humanity, sensitivity, and professionalism for police personnel. He reiterated the government’s dedication to developing a modern, technology-driven, and community-focused police force. Speaking at the passing-out parade of 469 Police Constables and one TSR Rifleman, Saha highlighted the historical legacy of Tripura Police dating back over 150 years.
Saha commended the dedication of police officers, noting that commitment to duty earns respect and recognition in society. He expressed the government’s commitment to transforming Tripura Police into a contemporary, technology-enabled, and citizen-centric law enforcement agency. The Chief Minister also acknowledged the historical evolution of Tripura Police from the princely era to its present form, emphasizing the force’s role in maintaining law and order.
Referring to the state’s rich policing history, Saha recalled the origins of Tripura Police’s administrative and policing systems established by erstwhile kings in the 13th century. He highlighted the force’s success in countering extremism and terrorism, leading to the prestigious award of the President’s Colours. Saha extended congratulations to the new recruits, emphasizing the public’s trust and high expectations from the police force.
The Chief Minister underscored the government’s transparent recruitment process, providing employment opportunities to young men and women in Tripura Police. He mentioned plans for recruiting 218 Sub-Inspectors and approving 916 additional police constables to bolster the force. Saha also highlighted the increasing participation of women in law enforcement, aligning with the government’s focus on women’s empowerment and safety.
