Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha contacted Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the assault on student Angel Chakma in Dehradun. The 24-year-old student, son of a BSF Constable, passed away after being attacked by a group on December 9. Dhami informed Saha that five suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident and investigations are ongoing.
Angel Chakma, a student in Uttarakhand, suffered severe injuries in what is believed to be a racially motivated assault. The altercation, which took place in the Selaqui area of Dehradun, led to Angel sustaining multiple stab wounds. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at Graphic Era Hospital. The Uttarakhand Police have arrested five individuals linked to the attack and placed them in judicial custody.
The tragic incident has sparked sorrow and outrage in Tripura, with various student groups and political figures denouncing the attack and demanding swift justice. The Youth Tipra Federation, affiliated with the BJP government in Tripura, has stood in solidarity with Angel Chakma’s family, urging a prompt and thorough investigation to ensure accountability.
