Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the importance of promptly executing the Kaladan Multimodal Transit and Transport Project during a virtual meeting. He emphasized the need to bolster multimodal connectivity corridors linking the Northeastern region with Myanmar and other neighboring countries. Saha underlined the region’s potential for growth and urged collective efforts to enhance infrastructure and connectivity development.
Addressing the High-Level Task Force meeting chaired by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Saha advocated for developing the Northeast as a gateway to the Bay of Bengal and ASEAN nations through integrated logistics hubs and robust energy and digital infrastructure. He stressed the significance of a coordinated approach to tackle challenges in various connectivity modes and infrastructure sectors, calling for tailored solutions to propel future projects forward.
Saha presented a comprehensive strategy devised by the Task Force to strengthen infrastructure and communication systems in the Northeastern states. The strategy, based on assessing existing infrastructure and future needs, focuses on priority sectors such as regional infrastructure grids, power, oil and gas, tourism, and border trade spaces. The Chief Minister expressed optimism that improved coordination between the Centre and the Northeastern states would enhance connectivity and position the region as a gateway to Southeast Asia.
