The Tripura government announced a one-day state mourning to honor Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag, whose body was discovered in his office bathroom. Anurag was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. The government expressed deep sorrow over his sudden demise and observed a two-minute silence in his memory.
The state mourning will be held on July 21, with the National Flag flown at half-mast on government buildings. No official entertainment programs will take place during the day. Anurag, a respected IPS officer of the Tripura cadre, had a distinguished career in public service, holding various key positions and receiving accolades for his dedication and professionalism.
The Cabinet praised Anurag’s contributions at national and international levels, including his service with the United Nations and various Indian agencies. Describing his death as an irreparable loss, the Cabinet highlighted his leadership and commitment to public service. Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed shock over the tragic incident and extended condolences to Anurag’s family.
