The Tripura government, led by Chief Minister Manik Saha, is implementing ‘pink toilets’ in urban civic bodies, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. These pink toilets aim to offer clean, safe, and easily identifiable public washrooms for women. Saha expressed satisfaction with the progress of constructing these facilities in 20 urban locations across the state, highlighting their importance in enhancing urban infrastructure and providing inclusive public amenities.
Saha emphasized the need for proper disposal of idols and strengthening door-to-door garbage collection systems. He stressed the importance of completing development projects within set deadlines while upholding high quality standards. The Chief Minister also underscored the significance of post-project maintenance and continuous monitoring to ensure sustained benefits.
In a push for efficient governance, Saha urged officials to expedite projects focused on delivering citizen services. He specifically reviewed the ongoing Lighthouse Project at the Akhaura border with Bangladesh and urged officials to accelerate its progress. Additionally, Saha directed the swift installation of CCTV cameras in urban areas to bolster security measures and support modernization efforts.
The Chief Minister also called for the speedy completion of the city hospital project to improve healthcare accessibility for the public. He instructed the installation of railings along footpaths to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce accidents. Saha further emphasized the importance of the riverfront development project along the Gomati River in Udaipur, stressing the need for regular maintenance of existing pump houses and the construction of new ones if necessary.
Ensuring environmentally safe disposal or recycling of idols after festivals was another key directive from Saha to the Agartala Municipal Corporation officials. He reiterated the significance of consistent door-to-door garbage collection and the reinforcement of solid waste management practices. The meeting also assessed the progress of various significant initiatives, including the Mukhyamantri Urban Development Project, Satellite Township Project, AMRUT 2.0, projects supported by the Asian Development Bank, the Smart City Mission, city beautification efforts, and the SASCI scheme.
Saha highlighted that the timely completion of public welfare projects, coupled with maintaining quality standards, would strengthen the administration’s accountability and dedication to serving the people. The meeting, attended by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Urban Development Department Secretary Milind Ramteke, Finance Department Secretary Apurba Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid A., Urban Development Director Megha Jain, and Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority Commissioner Mihir Kanti Gope, focused on advancing various developmental projects for the benefit of the state’s residents.
