Tripura unveiled its inaugural public electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Agartala, a move aimed at advancing clean and sustainable transportation in the state. This initiative is designed to provide convenient charging options for EV users, promoting eco-friendly practices. The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) spearheaded this milestone, aligning with the PM E-Drive Scheme to establish 94 public EV charging stations across various locations in the state.
Charging electric vehicles has been simplified with the launch of the modern public charging station at the Banamalipur Power House campus in Agartala. This CAPEX-based facility, a collaboration between TSECL and a private organization, operates on a fully digital and self-service model. Users can effortlessly charge their vehicles by using a designated mobile application, selecting their vehicle model, making online payments, and connecting the charging gun to the vehicle.
The newly operational public electric vehicle charging station features a 30 kW DC fast charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger, catering to both private and commercial electric vehicles. This advanced infrastructure ensures rapid, secure, and convenient charging services for EV users, contributing to the growing adoption of electric vehicles in Tripura.
TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu highlighted the corporation’s long-term strategy to promote electric vehicle usage and expand charging infrastructure throughout the state. This comprehensive plan aims to enhance accessibility to EV charging facilities across major parts of Tripura, fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment through the increased adoption of electric mobility.
