Trishala Dutt, the elder daughter of actor Sanjay Dutt, recently posted a cryptic message on social media discussing the use of silence as a form of emotional manipulation in relationships. As a psychotherapist in the United States, she highlighted how some individuals opt for the silent treatment instead of expressing their emotions, viewing it as a way to control or punish their partner for setting boundaries or differing opinions. Trishala emphasized that silence employed as a means of punishment constitutes abuse and is not acceptable in a healthy relationship.
In her post, Trishala encouraged individuals facing such behavior to reject this form of mistreatment and prioritize their well-being. She stressed that authentic relationships are built on open communication rather than inflicting pain or coercion. Trishala suggested a constructive approach of utilizing healthy silence as a method to gather thoughts before engaging in a productive conversation.
Furthermore, Trishala underscored the importance of communicating the need for a cooling-off period effectively, stating, “I need a few hours to collect myself so I don’t say something hurtful.” She advocated for a return to dialogue after this period to address any underlying issues in a respectful manner. Trishala concluded her message by asserting that silence aimed at safeguarding one’s mental well-being reflects self-respect, whereas using silence to manipulate others signifies a power play.
Despite not directing her post towards any specific individual, there has been speculation that Trishala’s words may allude to her father and family dynamics. Trishala is Sanjay Dutt’s daughter from his first marriage to the late Richa Sharma, who tragically passed away in 1996. Sanjay Dutt later tied the knot with actress Maanayata Dutt in 2008, and the couple welcomed twins, a son named Shahraan and a daughter named Iqra, in 2010. While Shahraan and Iqra occasionally appear in the media alongside their parents, Trishala has deliberately chosen to maintain a low profile.
