US President Donald Trump stated that Iran is looking for negotiations following significant military setbacks, amidst ongoing American and Israeli strikes targeting Tehran’s missile and drone capabilities. Trump, speaking at an event in the White House honoring 2025 MLS champions Inter Miami CF, mentioned that the US and its allies were swiftly diminishing Iran’s military assets, with Tehran allegedly showing interest in talks. He highlighted the joint military efforts progressing faster than anticipated, resulting in substantial damage to Iranian forces.
The President emphasized that Iranian missile launch systems were being rapidly neutralized, with launchers being hit within minutes of missile deployment. Trump also asserted that Iran’s naval strength had been notably diminished during the campaign, with around 24 ships reportedly lost in three days. Additionally, he claimed that a significant portion of Iran’s air defense and aviation capabilities had been dismantled by US forces, leaving the country without an air force or air defense system.
Despite the military pressure, Trump expressed openness to a different future for Iran if certain elements within its security establishment diverged from the current leadership. He called on members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, military, and police to lay down their arms, urging Iranian diplomats worldwide to defect and support internal political change. Trump assured cooperation would be met with immunity, while resistance would lead to certain death. He argued that the ongoing military operation aimed to bring stability to the region and global energy markets in the long term.
