US President Donald Trump emphasized that he will not hastily enter into a deal with Iran, citing concerns related to the upcoming midterm elections. Trump, speaking at a White House cabinet meeting, expressed readiness to resort to military action if the ongoing negotiations do not yield an agreement favorable to the United States. He dismissed Iran’s hopes of leveraging political pressure from the midterms to weaken his negotiating stance.
Trump highlighted that Washington is currently dissatisfied with the negotiation terms but remains optimistic about reaching a satisfactory resolution. He asserted that if necessary, military action would be taken to achieve the desired outcome. Trump emphasized that Iran is eager to strike a deal but implied that the US holds the upper hand in the negotiations.
During the cabinet meeting, Trump clarified that Iran would not be granted sanctions relief in exchange for relinquishing its highly enriched uranium stockpile. He firmly stated that the current framework does not involve sanctions relief for Iran in return for giving up its highly enriched uranium. The White House also refuted an Iranian media report on a draft deal, labeling it as a baseless fabrication.
