US President Donald Trump is set to lead the launch of America’s year-long 250th anniversary celebrations next week. The event will take place on the National Mall and will feature military flyovers, cultural exhibitions, state pavilions, and a program highlighting the nation’s history and innovation. The celebrations are in anticipation of America’s semiquincentennial in 2026.
The kick-off event on June 24 will mark the opening of the Great American State Fair, a 16-day exposition in Washington. This fair, described as a modern-day world’s fair, will celebrate the traditions, achievements, and spirit of the United States. It will run from June 25 to July 10 and is one of the key events leading up to the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Organized by Freedom 250, the event aims to showcase American culture, technology, business, agriculture, military heritage, and civic life. More than 150 exhibits representing all 50 states and six U.S. territories are expected to participate in the fair. The programming of the fair will revolve around daily themes reflecting various aspects of the American experience.
