Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has officially complained to the Chief Electoral Officer about inadequate police security during his campaign in Perambur. He expressed concerns over the insufficient police presence in the Perambur Assembly constituency, leading to chaotic crowd management that halted his campaign midway. Vijay emphasized the need for a fair inquiry into the incident and action against the responsible officials.
The complaint follows Vijay’s nomination filing from Perambur for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The actor-turned-politician, contesting from Perambur and Tiruchi East, faced overwhelming support during his campaign launch in Perambur. However, the situation turned chaotic as his campaign vehicle encountered massive crowds en route to Kolathur, causing traffic disruptions and necessitating the suspension of the campaign.
Due to the lack of adequate police control, Vijay decided to halt the campaign, citing safety concerns and the risk of unfair election practices. He highlighted the importance of effective security measures during high-profile campaigns to maintain the integrity of the electoral process. The incident has drawn attention to election security arrangements in Tamil Nadu as candidates gear up for the upcoming Assembly polls on April 23.
