Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay, in an emotional appeal to party members in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, presented a new set of election pledges. He expressed a deep connection with supporters beyond just electoral politics, emphasizing the emotional aspect. Vijay disclosed the second phase of his party’s promises, with a significant focus on aiding farmers.

Vijay pledged complete waiver of crop loans for farmers with up to five acres of land from cooperative banks if TVK comes to power. Additionally, he proposed examining the partial waiver of crop loans for farmers with over five acres. Ensuring ample fertilizers for delta farmers and safeguarding paddy in procurement centers were also key points.

The TVK leader assured covering educational expenses for children from landless families and small-scale farmers, under the condition of no family member being a government employee. He promised strict measures against any malpractice in agricultural procurement and proposed reforms in the public distribution system.

Vijay highlighted the party’s commitment to advocating for fishermen’s rights and enhancing essential public services like education, healthcare, and transportation. He emphasized special attention to women, children, and youth, promising job opportunities in both government and private sectors.

Reflecting on his personal connection to farming despite lacking experience, Vijay expressed a profound bond with the agricultural community. The event, closely monitored by police, saw limited participation with strict regulations. Vijay’s arrival in Tiruchirappalli and subsequent road journey to the venue were met with enthusiastic support from TVK members.
