Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President Vijay presented ambitious welfare plans for weavers, farmers, MSMEs, and government employees at an election rally in Tiruppur. He announced the release of the party’s full election manifesto on April 16 in book form. Vijay emphasized key promises, including the creation of an e-commerce brand for weavers to sell products globally and financial aid for handloom and powerloom families.
Vijay pledged free electricity for handloom and powerloom units, a subsidy on yarn and dyes, and life insurance for weavers. He also proposed relief measures for MSMEs, such as suspending peak-hour electricity charges and providing a tax waiver to boost the textile sector. The welfare initiatives extended to agriculture, with promises of farm loan waivers, increased procurement prices for crops, and financial assistance for farmer families.
In governance, Vijay assured considerations for the old pension scheme for government employees and regularization of eligible temporary staff. He committed to tackling corruption in promotions, ensuring transparent police transfers, and enhancing facilities for police personnel, including salary increments and welfare hospitals. The TVK leader concluded by seeking voters’ trust in his genuine promises and advocating for a transformative “whistle revolution” in Tamil Nadu politics.
