Two individuals linked to notorious gangster Prince Khan have been apprehended in Jharkhand’s Palamu for attempting to extort Rs 1 crore from a gold merchant in Medininagar. The accused, posing as Prince Khan, demanded the ransom from the owner of Gold House, a prominent jewelry store, using WhatsApp voice messages and threats of violence.
Palamu Superintendent of Police Reeshma Ramesh disclosed that this incident marked the first extortion attempt in Medininagar attributed to Prince Khan. Following the victim’s complaint, an FIR was filed, and a specialized investigative team was assembled under the Sadar SDPO’s supervision.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided an under-construction municipal building near Congress Bhavan, detaining Mohammad Nazim and Murtaza Ansari. The authorities seized firearms, mobile phones, and other incriminating items from the suspects, who had prior knowledge of the targeted jewelry store.
During interrogation, the arrested individuals admitted to conducting surveillance on the shop and sending a video to Prince Khan. An amount was transferred to one of the accused for a planned shooting near the store, which was thwarted by their timely arrest. Mohammad Nazim, one of the perpetrators, has a criminal history, and investigations are ongoing to uncover additional connections in the extortion scheme.
